Open letter to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
The Rock posted a video and the following text on his Instagram account asking president Trump “Where are you?”.
Our country is crippled and on its knees, begging to be heard and pleading for change.
Where is our compassionate leader?
The leader who unifies and inspires our country at our most painful time when we need it the most.
The leader who steps up and takes full accountability for our country and embraces every color in it.
The leader who picks our country up off its knees and says you have my word – we got this – and together, change will happen.
Where are you?
Because we’re all here.
Dwayne, We could ask the same of you. Where are you? First, if you watched the president’s rose garden speech, he promised that law abiding and peaceful protests are welcomed and encouraged as they are the back bone of our country. He also promised the cops would be held accountable. If the local state authorities in Minnesota fail to hold them accountable, he would then step in from a federal level. However, violent rioters will not be tolerated. In no other period of our history, have see seen such violence and our cities are burning. We have never seen such organized rioting and looting in the name of someones tragic death. Do you really believe that telling rioters we love them and understand will stop the looting, killing and burning of our cities? I am sure your privileged life in your mansion you might think so. But for those of us where the burning is occurring in our neighborhoods, we disagree.
So I ask you again, Where are you? Where are you on black on black crime? 93 percent of black homicide victims in the U.S. were committed by other blacks. Over 500,000 black deaths were at the result of another black’s hands in just the last 35 years. Where are you to help “ask compassionately” for thugs to stop killing their own people?
Where are you about stopping black women from aborting their babies? 38% of all abortions are black babies. There is only a 17% black population in the U.S. Did you try to “ask compassionately” for women to stop aborting their babies? Since 1973, over 20 million black babies have been aborted.
Can you imagine what a better place the U.S. would be if black on black homicide stopped? Can you imagine what a better place the U.S. would be if those 20 million black babies would have lived? America would have been and would be a better place. We would have more equal representation in the workforce, politics and life in general. We would have more actors, singers, athletes but more importantly, we would have more who make a difference in the world. Did it ever occur to you that through black on black violence or abortion that we may have killed a black who discovers the cure to cancer, Aids or even a vaccine to Covid? Did a black person die before they could invent the next big tech item that changes the world? Even if they had lived and not come up with the cure to any disease, has a black person’s life been extinguished before they even had a chance to make a difference in the world? The answer is a resounding YES!
I love your movies and you are a great inspiration. However, you can’t be an armchair quarterback and tell Trump he should “ask (violent rioters) compassionately” to stop. These are paid Antifa thugs (of all races) who are burning our cities, killing innocent people, beating other people to pulp. You cannot reason with these people. Many small mom and pop shops owned by blacks and others are now out of business because of these riots. Antifa is delivering pallets of bricks to locations to incite violence which will mainly be blamed on the black community.
I would Never promote violence but what does violence and looting have to do with what tragedy is occurring with overzealous cops? Would it make more sense to protest at the mayor mansions who control the police actions in their cities instead of killing, beating, looting and burning down mom and pop stores? None of what you are saying makes any sense. You seem like a kind man but we see around the world that kindness does not stop violence.
Instead of blaming Trump, how about you lead by example and try to stop these looters by “asking compassionately” Let’s see how far you get. Should we send them to your house to listen to what you have to say? Otherwise, help rather than place blame. Get out of your armchair and do something! You do not need to be a president to do something. Lead by example. Until then, force is needed to stop the violence. No other country in the world other than spinless European countries would put up with this. They would shut it down in just a day.
If you really cared about black lives, get off your ass and lead!
